Vinicius Junior scored the only goal of the game in the 15th minute of the second half, curling up Fede Valverde’s pass past Alisson. It showed a great performance from Real, especially in defence, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men put a lot of pressure before making the most of their chances.
The match was delayed for 36 minutes as thousands of Liverpool fans tried to get into the stadium outside the Stade de France – there were huge queues outside and police apparently blocked the entrances.
There was even evidence that supporters were sprayed with pepper spray, as ticketed supporters were ultimately unable to get to the ground.
On the court, it started relatively mildly after the Super Bowl inspired Camila Cabello. The first 15 minutes were uneventful, although it was Liverpool who looked more at ease on both sides with the ball.

Valverde’s right-side pass from Casemiro allowed the Spaniard to fire a low shot into the Liverpool box, while Vinicius unceremoniously got behind Alexander-Arnold and sent the ball past Alisson.
Liverpool responded with Salah’s thunderous shot which was well saved by Courtois before Jürgen Klopp was taken on the bench to bring on Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita.
But the changes did not guarantee the reaction many were hoping for, instead Real ended up with plenty of blocks and gaps.

RB: Dani Carvajal – 8/10 – Leaving all past injuries behind with a brilliant defensive performance. He made Diaz irrelevant.
