Mo’Nique will play the role of a social worker who helps a family overcome evictions in the film based on real events. The series has been acquired by CAA Media Finance. A source close to the situation told Deadline it could cost up to $65 million, which covers the film’s budget and acquisitions.

In addition to waking up together again, Daniels is following up on their personal make-up with a public apology that many say is overdue. “I’m so sorry that I hurt you in any way,” Daniels told Mo’Nique onstage at the “Mo’Nique and Friends: April Fools Day with the Queen of Comedy” event in Staten Island. He added: “You, and she’s my best friend – my best friend. You think ‘precious’ just … it’s God working through both of us.”

Comedian and actress Mo’Nique has reconciled with director Lee Daniels, ending a years-long feud stemming from her refusal to promote the 2009 film, “Precious.”
Daniels joined Mo’Nique during her comedy show at the St. George in Staten Island, New York.

The two, who went 13 years without speaking, Deadline reports, recently patched things up ahead of the announcement that Mo’Nique will star in Daniels’ upcoming film, “Demon House.”
The film — about a social worker who helps a family through several exorcisms — was expected to star Octavia Spencer, but she dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, Deadline reported. Daniels brought in Mo’Nique to replace Spencer.

Mo’Nique has been vocal about her feud with Daniels, telling The Hollywood Reporter in 2015 that she was “blackballed” for not promoting “Precious,” which Daniels produced, during Oscar season. She ended up winning Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of an abusive mother.
