For LL Cool J, hip-hop culture is something the music industry has long struggled with. During our Zoom call, Cool J said: “Fashion, especially streetwear, has been my favorite ever since I started working. I just think there’s a place for it. People want something delicious, but they want The ones who really built the [street] culture. A lot of people are playing the streetwear game, even though the reality is there are a lot of outsiders playing the culture.”
It keeps the spirit of hip-hop and is ready for those moments that captivate us. “There are a lot of stakeholders in society. A lot of artists have equity in the company [and] own part of the brand. It feels good to do it for them too. It’s for the culture and [RTB] will benefit people in the culture, ’ explained Cool J.
LL Cool J is also a firm believer in the Rock The Bells brand’s presentation of authenticity as it represents hip-hop’s heritage. “Anyone can put a logo on a shirt and call it a brand. That doesn’t really make it a brand or formal streetwear. I don’t want to go and take some blanks and put a logo on it. I want the material to be right , the atmosphere is right,” he said. “I want it to really represent culture in the right way. The way I do it with my music, I do it in different areas of my life. I want it to be tailored and thought out. There’s something passionate about it. I’m trying to Do something about our culture so we can expand and grow.”

“These hoodies, these sweatshirts, these shorts are really important in hip-hop. It’s really in our culture the type of streetwear that we love. It’s as important as certain drumbeats, it’s as important as certain baselines It’s important, it’s as important as certain horn sounds,” says LL Cool J. His relationship with music and fashion has continued throughout his career and has shaped his personality in such a way that we know him.
LL Cool J collaborates with many different artists to create a clothing capsule collection, keeping the collection’s minimal designs, clean surfaces and subtle tweaks to essentials. Separates include heavyweight tees, sweatshirts, sweatpants and shorts in summer-friendly colors like yellow, turquoise and pink.

Hip-hop grew out of rebellious behavior and a desire for riches. LL Cool J endorsed some of hip hop’s most memorable styles, like Dapper Dan’s own creations, covered in MCM lettering and Gucci logos. “Rock The Bells” is one of LL Cool J’s many rap songs, and launching “Hip Hop Is Essential” is a way for the lyricist to make his point. Created by LL Cool J and the rest of Rock The Bells, these wardrobe staples are meant to represent the many layers hip-hop has grown to, with fashion being one of the most prominent over the years. Lifestyle LL COOL J label Rock The Bells finally launches their highly anticipated clothing line. The legendary producer previewed several new pieces from The Drip Collection in a lavish Instagram video.
Prices for the collection range from $95 to $628 and include an assortment of colorful hoodies, tees, sweatshirts and bomber jackets. The new cut arrives just in time for fans to stock up ahead of LL’s Rock the Bells festival this August.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer first announced the festival in April, and many of his hip-hop legends will be performing, including Ice Cube, Lil Kim, Digable Planets, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, The Diplomats, Scarface, Remy Ma, Trina, N.O.R.E., DJ Scratch, Scarface and more.

Hosted by Roxanne Shanté, the event aims to “bring together some of hip-hop’s biggest icons and genre-defining artists for a full day of live music, interactive experiences, art exhibits, food and more,” according to a press release. .The festival will take place on August 6 at Forest Hills Stadium in LL COOL J’s hometown of Queens, New York.

Rock the Bells also donates a portion of proceeds to the Universal Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx, whose mission is to “celebrate and preserve the people, artifacts and stories that resonate from 1973 to the present.”

The series attracted attention and received funding from a rather eclectic group, including Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. , Mark Cuban. This past June, LL Cool J collaborated with Atlanta-based artist and designer Alexander-John on a T-shirt and hoodie honoring the Black Lives Matter movement and George Floyd. The collaboration was so successful that it resulted in the new Chain Collection, which pays homage to the use and influence of gold by featuring chain graphics on T-shirts, hoodies, jogging pants, blazers and bags.
