If you’ve read anything I’ve written, you probably know that I’m a Taylor Levine fan. Sure, Bussin is a great podcast with the guys, and Levon is a fun guy to watch in this setting, but I think he’s criminally underrated, even if his personality is taken away from him.
Before the season started, I wrote about how PFN underrated Taylor Lewan despite ranking him as one of the top 10 running backs in the NFL.
I believe Lewan is a rare combination of the elite athleticism of a modern offensive lineman with the “I want to quit you” mentality that was prevalent in the 80’s. That edge and athleticism was lacking when the Titans’ offense struggled, and for a team that seemed to need some leadership late in the year, he’s an integral part of this team’s future. LeVon has one year remaining on his contract with the Titans and will make $14.8 million in 2023 with no guarantees.
“It’s hard, but it’s out of your control,” Levon said. “So I’m sitting there wondering, what if I become a Titan? Because you never know what will happen. What if it’s over for me? What if football ends with me? … I have a lot to think about. I have a lot to do in the next few months to figure out what I want my life to look like in the future.”
Levon said his right knee will need another operation to lead a normal life and continue his football career. He tore his ACL in 2020 and missed five games in 2021 with other knee issues, from which he said he never fully recovered.
After not being able to stay healthy the past few seasons with Tennessee, LeVon, in the final year of his contract, could be a candidate to be cut next season.

“I had some problems last season,” Lewan said. “My knee was swollen. I had constant pain there and I was like, ‘I don’t know what the deal is.’
“This year I learned that the things that hurt my knee were directly related to how I did it to my knee. So I have to go and fix my knee and play football or live a normal life.”
LeVon, who was selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, played in 62 games from 2015-18 and went to the Pro Bowl three times (2016-18). However, Lewan missed 34 of the Titans’ final 66 regular season games — primarily due to two ACL injuries, as well as a four-game PED suspension in 2019. Sure, he had his setbacks, a concussion in 2018 and a suspension in 2019, but this young man didn’t earn three Pro Bowl roster spots for nothing. By 2021, he seems very excited about the prospects.

Titans fans can’t wait for Mr. Lewan either. Whether or not he’ll be ready to hit the field for the start of training camp is up to Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and the practice staff, but no one is in any rush. Walking too much during the season can cause additional injury.
He is one of the main cogs of the Tennessee Titans offense when healthy. There’s no doubt about it, so Tennessee will take time. Here’s a bold prediction for anyone looking for one. A healthy Taylor Lewan will return to the Pro Bowl in 2021. Lewan entered the league as the 11th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Levon quickly became the top left tackle in Tennessee. He qualified for three consecutive Pro Bowls between 2016 and 2018.
The last few seasons have been very difficult for Lewand. He suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Week 6 of the 2020 campaign. Lewand’s performance in the 2021 campaign has been hampered by his recovery from knee surgery. Lewan suffered a second ACL injury in Week 2 of 2022.
According to Spotrac, the Titans are about $23.5 million over the salary cap in the offseason. New general manager Ron Carton and the Titans have until mid-March to reach the cap. Levon release released $14.841 million. The Titans are now $9 million short of the cap. Other potential victims include Bud Dupree, Jack Cunningham, Robert Woods, Ryan Tannehill and JaMarco Jones.
