The feature stars Ryan Phillippe (“McGruber,” “Big Sky”), Kate Bosworth (“The Long Road Home,” “Force of Nature”) and Ving Rhams (“Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” “Pulp Fiction”). is Directed by Nicholas Harvard (“Hell or High Water”, “Yellowstone”).
Filming began on November 15 and is expected to continue through mid-December, according to Film Las Cruces.
Filming will take place in several locations around Doña Ana County, but has recently focused on the corner of Solano Drive and Madrid Avenue, near Apodaca Park. Solano Scooters, a local scooter dealership in the area, transformed into a locksmith shop inside and out for filming.
A member of the film crew said the streets were supposed to be completely closed to traffic, but that plan was changed to account for access to nearby businesses still operating. When the cameras stop rolling, traffic is allowed to pass.

An expert locksmith (Ryan Phillippe) is released from prison and returns to the world of rogue cops and small-town gangsters, despite the future he had hoped to build with his detective ex-fiancée (Kate Bosworth) and their daughter. In the world of detective capers and thrillers, the “last job” narrative framework has been used enough that it’s less of a trope and more of a genre all its own—movies of all stripes can run in Fun House, as long as they find it. A way to keep it fresh or charming. Nicholas Harvard’s first film, “The Locksmith,” however, mostly takes characters and narrative turns and throws them in his basket, unable to fill the rest with much color or nuance.
The film’s only hope for critical quality is clumsily forced: the folk-picking ability of its protagonist, Miller (Ryan Phillippe), serves as an avatar for a past he can’t get past. After a break-in goes wrong and a corrupt cop leads to the murder of his friend, Miller is convicted of murder and sent to prison for a decade. He’s willing to work with his ex-girlfriend, Beth (Kate Bosworth) – who works on the force alongside a corrupt cop – and her young daughter. But, soon, an old friend – naturally, the ex-lover of Miller’s dead partner – drags her into another scheme that entangles her in a larger web of crimes.
The Locksmith (tv Mini Series 1997– )
Much of the film is told in great, rudimentary writing and covered in clichés. Its cast, which includes Ving Rhames – categorized as a gruff mentor but nonetheless a simple comforter – and the nostalgic duo of early stars Phillip and Bosworth, can’t do more than what they’re given. Bosworth is perhaps the only one who has found room for some subtlety in a tedious, crumbly body of work.
